R.J.'s Diagnosis

At the age of two R.J. was diagnosed with a condition called Aortic Stenosis. He has a growth of tissue in his heart that blocks the flow of blood into the Aorta. Over the last ten years the tissue has enlarged and now must be removed. The function of his Aortic valve has also been affected and may need to be repaired. This requires open heart surgery.

R.J. will be having surgery sometime soon at Primary Children's Hospital. We are very grateful to be living so near a wonderful hospital and feel confident that all will go well with his surgery. We have started this blog to keep friends and family updated and in the "know".

Still Waiting

We were told to expect a surgical scheduler to call us on Monday the 23rd of May to make an appointment for R.J.'s surgery. We finally called them on Wednesday the 25th of May and they told us it would probably be next week before someone would call. So still no certain date for his surgery. It was great to see all the graduates at 6th grade graduation. We are proud of R.J. and his friends for moving forward. Summer vacation is now here and our family is going to try and squeeze as much fun as possible before R.J.'s surgery. Today we are headed to the Kaibab Forest for some camping with the Claude Woodside Family. Hopefully we will have a date for surgery soon, we will keep you posted. Thanks everyone for being supportive, we DO appreciate it.

Anxiously Waiting

We are just waiting for the surgeon scheduler to call. The summer is kind of on hold until we have the surgery date set. Hoping to go camping with Grandpa Woodside Family next weekend. As soon as we know dates we will post.
